Due to inclement weather, Saturday school is canceled today, March 4, 2023. All After school activities are canceled as well. The makeup day will be Saturday, March 25. Again for today, March 4, Saturday, School has been canceled.

Reminder: Shishmaref School will hold classes, Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 9:00 am - 1:30 pm to make up for the weather closure this week.
We look forward to seeing students at school as they begin to follow the Iditarod and their favorite Musher for the ceremonial start on Saturday.
Youth Employment Services provide opportunities for part-time summer employment to youth between the ages of 14-24, during the months of June, July & August. Work sites are voluntary and last 4 weeks. Typically, hired youth work 24 hours per week, and pay is $12 per hour.
Youth Employment Services are designed to provide valuable employment skills and experience while earning a wage.

Alaska Business Development Center is providing FREE TAX ASSISTANCE through the volunteer tax and loan program. We are located at the School please use the back entrance by the MPR today. We are offering services from 11 am to 10 pm and tomorrow from 9 am to 12 pm.

City just informed us the bear has been chased off, we'll all clear. Doors are unlocked and students can leave.
Due to the confirmed polar bear sighting on the eastside of the island the school has locked all doors. If you need in the school please call to have someone meet you at the front doors. Students will remain in the building with no one leaving. We ask that parents pick up their students after school. We'll let you know once we hear updates.
Open gym (recreation time) will be canceled this evening, because of the animal sighting. Because of home boys basketball games open gym will restart Monday, January 30th.
Due to an animal sighting near the island we are advising parents to come pick up their students after school at 3:30.

Shishmaref School will hold Parent – Teacher Conferences Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 9 am – 1 pm. Breakfast will be from 8:30 – 9:00 and Lunch will be served from 12:30 – 1 pm.
Students will be required to attend conferences to share with their Parent or Guardian their personal learning journey, successes, opportunities for growth, and to be marked as present for the day.

Shishmaref School is pleased to offer a School Walking path 3:45 pm - 5:00 pm daily during the school calendar year. Community members are welcome to enter through the front door at the beginning of the walking path. In addition, maps will be available at the front for you convenience. This offers our community a safe and warm path to stay up on your fitness goals.
